Remember, when it's freezing in London (December), it is scorching hot in Australia. If you want a classic "Aussie Christmas" on the beach, book your van 3-4 months in advance. Summer in NZ is perfect for hiking, but winter (July-Aug) is legendary for skiing.
2. Don't Rush the Road 🛣️
A common mistake? Trying to see everything in 2 weeks. Use our Itinerary Guides above to plan realistic routes. Sometimes the best memories happen when you park up by a random river and do absolutely nothing.
3. Camp Smart & Check the Rules 👮♂️
Both Australia and NZ have strict rules about where you can sleep. Don't get caught out with a hefty fine on your first night. We strongly suggest you investigate the local laws before you park up.
