5th - 7th Bestival www.bestival.net
Robin Hill Park, Isle of Wight
Oh Bestival, don’t you just love it! At the end of the festival season this gem of a festival is set right in the heart of the Isle of Wight on a site that twist and turns and offers surprises at every turn. One of the original boutique festivals Bestival offers innovative ideas like ‘Breastival’ – a yurt where mothers and their children can go to breast feed! They also had one of the first inflatable churches set up at a festival so you can get ratted and have a fake marriage to boot! Bestival also offers a wide range of vegetarian foods, has an infamous fancy dress parade, and also has some sneaky secret stages to delight and inspire! Get your ticket now! P.S. You can take Wicked vans over on the ferry too! BONUS. 12th - 14th
End of the Road www.endoftheroadfestival.com
Larmer Tree Gardens, Dorset
A very small festival offering good music and good times to all, this festival has had great reviews and offers a more family friendly vibe to it. This said, don’t let that put you off if ‘family’ doesn’t exactly conjure up anything positive, with the line up last year including Malcolm Middleton, Seasick Steve, British Sea Power and the Super Furry Animals, this is festival to be reckoned with. I reckon.
19th - 20th
Loopallu www.loopallu.co.uk
Ullapool, Scotland
Set in the small fishing village of Ullapool, Loopallu has been going for 3 years now and offers another small, family friendly festival with good music at its core. Previous bands that have played include The Stranglers, Franz Ferdinand and The View. 20th - 5th Oct
Oktoberfest www.oktoberfest.de Munich, Germany
So technically it starts in September, but it finishes in October. And frankly it has a better ring to it than Septemberfest which sort of sounds like a diseased growth or something. Anyway! It’s the 175th Oktoberfest this year so it’s somewhat of a tradition… with around 6 million people expected to attend! If you get there at noon on the 20th you can watch the Lord Mayor tap the first keg of Oktoberfest, which means you can follow suit! Let the good times roll!
