7th - 8th Rock Ness www.rockness.co.uk
Loch Ness, Scotland
What a spiffing way to start June. If nothing else go just to experience Loch Ness, you might even find the monster! The line up so far includes Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Manic Street Preachers and The Wombats. Let’s hope that Nessie has got some large earplugs to hand...
13th - 15th
Isle Of Wight www.isleofwightfestival.com
Isle Of Wight
Ahhh, the infamous Isle of Wight festival, also known as our own version of Woodstock back in the day, the festival began in 1968 with Jefferson Airplane headlining and tickets going on sale for £1.25! The year after Bob Dylan played and the popularity of the festival increased with audience members including John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Pink Floyd and Keith Richards. The 1970 festival was to be the festivals last as the crowd size surpassed the number of tickets sold when everyone came to see the likes of The Who and Joni Mitchell perform with Hendrix headlining. The festival returned in 2002 and this year sees a line up including Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols, The Police, Ian Brown, The Kooks, Iggy and the Stooges, Lily Allen, The Hoosiers and Kate Nash. Hot diggity dang!
13th - 15th Download www.downloadfestival.co.uk
Donington Park, Leicestershire
Well Rock me Amadeus, this festival is not to be taken lightly! With previous years line up including the likes of Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Wolfmother, Slayer, Machine Head and Korn, it’s probably safe to say this festivals’ heavy, man. You might want to steer clear of turning up in our Jellybeans van for example…
20th - 22nd Hurricane www.hurricane.de
Germany
Ooh, this truly is turning into an international affair isn’t it? And this is a festival not to be missed! With bands such as Radiohead, the Foo Fighters, Maximo Park, The Kooks and The Wombats playing get yourselves a camper and head on over to Germany. Go on! Go!
20th - 22nd Southside www.southside.de
Nr Munich, Germany
Ok, so basically the Southside festival and Hurricane are a twinned festival where the same bands play at each on the same weekend, except they’re in different parts of the country. The Southside, as you might expect is in the south of Germany, whereas Hurricane is up in the north. Clever that. 21st - 22nd Knowsley Hall www.knowlseyhallfestival.co.uk
Liverpool
So, here we are, back in the UK. But wait! It’s time for the Knowsley Hall festival, which last year saw the likes of The Who and Keane headlining, with The Coral, The View and The Thrills also playing. Scream! 27th - 29th Glastonbury www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk
Somerset
Heard of this one? Thought so. Well, this year follows the same routine as last year in terms of buying tickets. You have to register your details along with a photo online or you can post a registration form from1 February – 14 March 2008. This is to stop ticket touts and give everyone a fair chance… Anyway, if you haven’t registered your details by this date there’s no chance to buy a ticket at all. They go on sale on 6 April in case you’re interested. Probably not though. Want to come round mine instead for beans on toast?
